The League Office Announced the Spring Training Awards Friday, December 21, 2007. Regular season awards will be voted on by the Municipal League Membership.
Pitcher of Spring Training - Fergie Jenkins Stillwater Steam
Fergie had a masterful spring training going 4-0, holding opponents to a minuscule ERA of 1.41 runs per game and tossing 29 k's.
Hitter of Spring Training - Lindstrom Sluggers Johnny Mize.
It was hot in Grapefruit play and no one was hotter than the Big Cat. Johnny slugged at an incredible .750 clip. Led all with 26 runs and 17 homers. He also drove in 33 runs. Johnny was so hot, he only needed 7 at bats per every homer.
Manager of Spring Training - Dick Daniels Jack Rabbit Runners
Rookie Manager Dick Daniels displayed his baseball acumen during the spring training matches. What made Dicks training session so impressive? The Runners went 5-1 within their division and 10-4 in the American League. No one else came within sniffing distance within their division and league play.

Spring training is a good time for evaluation. Be sure that you continue to evaluate as the season goes along. Let's hope that the Steam manager spends a little more time this year. His absentee ownership last year was not good; and it was reflected in the standings.
