Shea Stadium, named for the famous Revolutionary, Shea Guevara, played its’ last MLB game on September 28, 2008. Citi Stadium awaits. Despite having the third highest ticket prices in MLB, the Mets drew over 4 million fans. I guess New Yorkers will pay just about anything to lose their hearing to the LaGuardia jets constantly flying overhead.
What could work: The stadium plays pretty well for left-handed pitchers, which should help starters Tudor, Fernandez, VanderMeer, and Closer Tug McGraw. If righties Gooden and JR Richard can achieve their anticipated high number of strikeouts, the pitching will be great. The pitching staff will lead the league in strikeouts. The hitting is an equal threat, with Boggs, Ozzie, Willie Mays, Barry Bonds and Johnny Mize.
What could fail: Rusty Staub, Willie Randolph, Johnny Pesky and the Catching duo of Tony Pena and Darren Daulton don’t really strike fear among pitchers. Ozzie seemed happier hitting between Billy Hamilton and Joe DiMaggio last year. Bonds is the best home run hitter in the ML, yet the park ranked in the bottom 25 percent of MLB for left-handed power hitters. By ML standards, the pitchers are not exceptional.
Result: 89-73. While Barry might be slightly pinched at Shea Stadium, he will have a blast in the Austin Powers home field in Puerto Rico. He might be Roy Hobbs record for home runs in a game.

That picture is classic. You have to send it to me. I hope you are right about the pitching....
