The Star-Studded Line-Up

No, it's not the Marilynd Monroes, or even the Austin Powers...

About this time of year, I have a break from coaching, gearing up for my baseball season starting in March. With my own "little slugger" on the way(could be boy or girl), I may have to move up my yearly ritual of watching the baseball movies in my library.

I've often wondered what kind of lineup you could make with those fictitious characters that Hollywood puts together...here are some thoughts. Definitely not the most extensive options, but many possibilities are out there.

A word of caution, players may have to play out of position just for the sheer demand of highlighted players in the most prestigious positions.

Infield
Lou Collins
Roger Dorn
Benny "the Jet" Rodriguez
Jack Elliot
Michael "Squints" Palledorous

Outfield many options here...
Pedro Cerrano
Roy Hobbs
Willie Mays Hayes
Bartholomew "Bump" Bailey
Bobby Rayburn
Kelly Leak
Max "Hammer" DuBois

Catchers
John Kinsella
Hamilton "the Great Hambino" Porter
Crash Davis
Jack Parkman
Spike Nolan
Jake Taylor

And of course...

Pitchers
Ricky "Wild Thing" Vaughn
Henry Rowengartner
Roy Hobbs (Again)
Montgomery Brewster
Kenny DeNunez
Billy Chapel
Gus
Steve Nebraska
Ebby Calvin "Nuke" Laloosh
Amanda Whurlitzer
Chet "Rocket" Steadman
Dottie Hinson

Oh, I know this isn't all of them, just the ones I could come up with off the top of my head. What's that? Line-up, you say? Okay, here goes

SS Benny Rodriquez
CF Willie Mays Hayes / Bobby Rayburn (one in the same)
RF Roy Hobbs
C Crash Davis (Holds the minor league record for homeruns)
1B Jack Elliot
LF Pedro Cerrano
DH Gus "the Bus"
2B Lou Collins
3B Roger Dorn

Starting Rotation
Billy Chapel
Ebby Calvin "Nuke" Laloosh
Chet Steadman
Steve Nebraska

Middle Relief a little young here...
Amanda Whurlitzer
Kenny DeNunez
Montgomery Brewster

Set-up
Roy Hobbs
Henry Rowengartner

Closer
Ricky Vaughn

Other questions you might be thinking of...who would coach? A couple options, and my final picks.

COACHES: Jimmy Dugan, Billy Heywood, and Uchiyama
MANAGER: Pop Fisher

If you really want me to get down to the nitty gritty...

Play-by-play: Harry Doyle
Team Mascot: The BEAST / Hercules

and of course, our wonderful cheer advisors: The Cheerleaders of BASEketball

Now, your task...can you identify these movies? If so, you'll know my playlist to take place before March 21.

Can you SIM this line-up!?

Great Post.

However I would drop Pedro Cerrano (he is the guy who now does all the AllState commercials), and replace him with Rex "T-Rex" Pannebaker (Mr. 3000). Joe Hardy (Damn Yankees) would be a decent replacement for Roy Hobbs during the days he is Vexed by his woman.

Speaking of Women, All the Way Mae Mordabito would be a great pinch runner .

What about Kenny Powers from Eastbound & Down?
