In Praise of Baseball-Reference.com

I don't know about you, but since I was a kid I always liked baseball statistics.  Never cared much for math until I learned how to compute batting averages, then I was hooked.  We have Ginormus website in baseball-reference.  Not only can you check out player stats, but its a ton more.

My first ever big league ballgame occurred on a family trip to Cleveland.  I remembered that I was eight or nine, the Indians played the Senators.  Frank Howard hit a homerun to center and Luis Tiant got the win and started the game winning rally with a bunt.  With those few facts I was easily able to find the box score here.

Got a work colleague who claims he played minor league baseball,  you can check it out here.   Every drafted player also listed.  This guy is my childhood friend's big brother.  He left after a week because he got homesick.

It has everything.  You could easily lose half a day on this site.  If you haven't been here, check it out.  Could even give you a leg up on next years fantasy season.
