baumann1.jpgNB high school’s beloved Coach Baumann is now memorialized in perpetuity.
Bill Baumann was inducted into the Minnesota Basketball Coaches Association (MBCA) Hall of Fame by the MBCA during the Hall of Fame Banquet at Hyatt Regency Hotel in Minneapolis last Sunday.

The purpose of this honor is to give special recognition to the people of Minnesota who have made significant contributions to promote high school basketball through their accomplishments and service.
Coach Baumann became the head boys basketball coach at North Branch in 1979 and spent 31 years as the leader of the Viking program prior to retiring in 2010.

Baumann’s career began as a head football coach, head baseball coach, and assistant basketball coach at Villard High School in 1975.
Baumann led his North Branch teams to six Rum River Conference Championships. His 1984 and 2001 Viking squads earned State Tournament berths by capturing Section championships. Coach Baumann was named Rum River Coach of the Year three times and Region/Section Coach of the Year five times.
He also served as an assistant football coach and received the Butch Nash Award from the Minnesota State High School Football Coaches Association in 2004.
During his tenure at North Branch, he also served as activities director and was honored as Regional Activities Director of the Year in 1991.
Coach Baumann was the recipient of the George Haun Memorial Award presented by the MSHSCA in 2001.
He coached in the MBCA All Star Series in 2001.
Baumann is a member of the 400 Win Club, and retired with an overall record of 414-335. He continues to stay involved at North Branch high school and still is a Viking assistant football coach.
