
With the reigning champion dethroned, the American and National League went about crowning their pennant winners.
September 20th
Rockville Rubble (Clemens) v Minneapolis Millers (Martinez)at Petco Stadium home of the Millers. Millers 5 Rubble 4 on a George Brett triple scoring on a Cecil Travis single in the bottom of the 9th.
American League Action. Lindstrom Sluggers (Hubbell) at Yankee Stadium home of the Bemidji Beavers (Palmer). Beavers 3 Sluggers 4 on a two run 8th inning homer by Bill Terry.
September 21st
Rubble (Ford) v. Millers (Saberhagen) at Petco. Millers 9 Rubble 6. Millers go up 2-0 behind Barry Bond's 3 RBI's.
Sluggers (Feller) v Beavers (Newhouser) at Yankee Stadium. Beavers knot up the series with an 8-3 win. Ruth and Dimaggio each knock one out of the park and drive in 3 runs.
September 23rd
The American League Series moves south to Metropolitan Stadium home of the Lindstrom Sluggers (Spahn) as the host the Beavers (Chance). The Sluggers can't hold serve as they get hung with a 10-4 loss. Al Kaline clubbed two homers and 4 RBi's to pace the Bemidji Ball Club.
The Rockville Rubble (Matthewson) host the Millers (Lanier) for game three at Braves Field. Christy Matthewson scattered 7 hits and two runs for a 4-2 Rubble victory.
September 24th
Sluggers (Dizzy Dean) host the Beavers (Joe Niekro). The Sluggers knot the series at 2-2 with a 5-3 victory. The Sluggers held off a late charge by the Beavers for the win.
The Rockville Rubble (Grove) host the Millers (Martinez). Millers 1 Rubble 0 in 10 innings. The Millers take a commanding 3-1 lead in the series. The pitching duel was concluded on a Barney McCosky RBI single.
September 25th
Game 5. Sluggers (Hubbell) host the Beavers (Palmer). Beavers 6-1 to come within a game of clinching the pennant. A five run 5th inning with homers by Musial, Brooks Robinson and Nellie Fox did in the Sluggers.
The Rubble's hoping to stave off elimination send Clemens to the mound to face Saberhagen. The Rubble took a 3-0 lead into the 9th only to lose after the Millers score 5 in the 9th to clinch the National League Pennant.
September 27th.
The American League series moves back to Yankee Stadium. On the hill for the Beavers is Newhouser. The Sluggers counter with Feller. The Sluggers take a 7-5 lead into the 8th only to cough up 3 on a Nellie Fox homer to clinch the American League Pennant for the Bemidji Beavers.
Municipal Leagues Third World Series Begins in Yankee Stadium as the Beavers host the Minneapolis Millers, winners of the 1927 season. This is the Beavers first Series appearance.
September 30th. Beavers send Dean Chance to open the series against Millers Max Lanier. The Millers score 6 runs after the first two innings as Lanier scatters six hits as the Millers take the opening game.
October 1. Beavers (Parnell) v Millers (Brewer). Brewer holds the Beavers scoreless through seven as the Millers take their second on the road with a 3-1 win.
October 3rd heads back to Minneapolis as the Millers (Martinez) host the Beavers (Palmer) at Petco. The game remained tied at 4 into the 11th inning. The knot was snapped after a fielding error by third baseman Brooks Robinson allowing Goodman to score. The Millers have a commanding 3-0 lead.
October 4th. Beavers send Hal Newhouser, former Miller, to the mound to stop the slide. On the mound for Minneapolis is Bret Saberhagen. Beavers Ozzie Smith knocked across Billy Hamilton in the first which was all that was needed. Newhouser no hit the Millers through 8 until a 9th inning single broke up the bid to make history. Beavers earn the victory and now need 3 more to clinch the championship.
October 5th. The Bemidji Beavers send Larry Gura to the hill in an attempt to force the series back to Bemidji. Minneapolis countered with Max Lanier. The game knotted at two heading into the 9th. Ron Reed shut down the Beavers in the 8th and top of the 9th as the Beavers send AL Closer of the year Mike Marshall to force extra innings. The Big Cat Johnny Mize (pictured at top) takes Marshall's first pitch deep for a 3-2 Millers World Series Clinching Victory.
