Christy Mathewson (21-6) led the Rockville Rubble to the Wild Card. A Strong Rubble pitching staff will be the key to vault them to the Municipal League Championship.
The 2008 Regular Season ended with a flourish as the Potato City Mashers rip off nine straight victories to pull ahead of the Savoy Specials for the NL West Division Championship.
The First Round of the Playoffs will begin Saturday. The Pequot Lakers (92-70)winners of the AL East will host the AL wildcard New York Knights (87-75). In the American League the NL West Champion Mashers (84-78) will host the wild card entrant Rockville Rubble (94-68).
With the 2008 Municipal League best record, the Marilynd Monroes (100-92) and the AL West winner Lindstrom Sluggers (93-69) will sit out the first round.
Congratulations are in order for the Fargo Morehead Twins (47-115). They secure the 2009's first draft pick. I think that it may help.
