Heading back to Coors Field, the New York Knights looked to close out the series on the road. After a 9-0 trashing of the Monroes, they sent Bill 'Spaceman' Lee to the hill. The Monroes countered with, soon to be named MVP, Babe Ruth, hoping that home would be the place to be.
Ruth did his job in the first. With the Monroes feeling this is do or die, Billy Hamilton coaxed a walk, stole second, moved to third on an infield hit and then raced home on a DiMaggio grounder to 2nd. Monroes held the 1-0 lead until the third.
Pitcher Bill Lee led off the third with a homer to right center, shaken the Babe immediately gives up a triple to Lajoie. The Knights second run scoring on a Jeter fielders choice. Knights 2-1. But the Monroes with the crowd behind them challenged the Knights. Once again Billy Hamilton led off with a walk. An Ozzie Smith sacrifice moved Hamilton and a DiMaggio single scored the run, tying the tilt at two. Mike Schmidt followed with an RBI double, then Gabby Hartnett unloaded deep to left to put four on the board in the third.
The Knights struck back in the 6th to tie the score at five on homers by Joe Jackson and Jesse Burkett. But the Monroes took the victory on a two run Baby Doll Jacobson home run in the bottom of the 7th to tie the series at three games apiece.
