Camden Yards. What a great ballpark. Built on the site of the old saloon owned by Babe Ruth’s father. Unfortunately the folks of Baltimore haven’t been turning out to see the local team. It ranked 24th in attendance in 2008. Hopefully the Runners can put a better squad on the field and fill the place up again.
What could work: Pedro will win every game that he starts. The outfield is great with Griffey Jr, Sam Crawford, Albert Belle, and Andruw Jones. The infield is great with Cal Ripken and Jackie Robinson up the middle and Jim Thome and Ron Santo at the corners. Gary Carter, the human backstop is behind the plate.
What could fail: $17 million for Pedro, $19 million for the other nine pitchers. Martinez will be unhitable and a lock for a win, the others won’t. Percival is a great closer, but might not have the opportunity to make too many saves. I think the computer is racist because Jackie Robinson has not performed well in this league. Maybe this will be his year.
Result: 74-88. If Pedro could pitch every two or three days the results might be better. Rabbit Ray wants better pitchers in good ol Baltimore…Jim Palmer is out there.
