The Marilynd Monroes Fight Back.
There was no messin' around as the Monroes sent MVP Babe Ruth (17-9) to the Mound to face over achieving Bill Lee (10-11).
The Knights were not afraid pushing five runs across at the top of the 1st, with a 3 run blast from the bat of Harry Heilman being the key. But the Monroes did not come into this Championship series fearing anyone. They turned and matched the Knights five in the first inning. Gabby Harnett hit a bases loaded bomb to put four on the board. The Babe sacrificed Doll Baby Jacobson home to knot the score.
In the bottom of the third, the flood gates broke for Knights hurler Bill Lee. Ruth slugged a three run homer, the Lee was chased for Ellis Kinder after walking Hamilton and giving up a single to Ozzie Smith. Kinder the proceeded to walk Joe Dimaggio on a 3-2 count. Mike Schmidt brought them all home for the Monroes second grand slam of the game. The Monroes added 3 more in the sixth inning, essentially sealing a series tie. The 15-8 Monroe win sent the series to New York.
