Seasons of Change - River Rox Go Gray

James Bettendorf Owner-Manager of the Forest Lake River Rox has announced large changes for 2009. According to the press release issued by the Elder Bettendorf Organization, "the Forest Lake River Rox will be regearing for 2009. Our first and most important move will be to drop all rights to Petco Park and claim Forbes Field. Also we will be dropping "Forest Lake River Rox" and will be rechristened as the Zane Grays. We believe that this will enhance our marketing efforts and to mark a new competitive attitude and spirit. Our name and stadium hearken back to the days of the Homested Grays. We intend to duplicate that success."

Also in a separate news release, the Zane Grays will retain Pitchers Steve Carlton 10 million, Bob Gibson 13 million, Kevin Brown 13 million and third baseman Brooks Robinson 1 million.
