Game Three - Jacobs Field

The Marilynd Monroes sent Orval Overall (16-10) to the mound v the Knights Billy Pierce (11-9). The Knights taking game one from the Monroes on the road swung the home field advantage. A win in game three would cement that advantage.

A lead off double down the right field line by Derek Jeter, and Nap Lajoie sacrifice to center put the Knights up by one at the bottom of the first. Larry Doby led off the 4th with a triple and scored on a fielders choice, putting the Knights exactly were they wanted to be.

But the Monroes fought back in the 5th. Cupid Childs led off with a single to right center, and stole second after Hamilton could not move him over. After Ozzie Smith sharply lined out to 2nd, the Babe was walked on four straight pitches. Jolton Joe DiMaggio doubled deep to left sending home Childs. Ruth was waived home only to be cut down at the plate ending the inning. Knights 2 Monores 1. The Knights Tony Phillips doubled with one out, moved to third on a Jeter ground out to second and crossed the plate on an Overall wild pitch. The Knights regained their two run advantage.

At the top of the seventh, the Monroes knotted the score at three. A Hamilton walk, Smith single, DiMaggio single (scoring Hamilton), and finally Schmidt got plunked, knocking Pierce out to the game. Jesse Orosco gave up a Hartnett infield single to score Smith to concluded the 7th inning scoring.

At the top of the 9th, Orosco walked Ozzie Smith on four pitches and then the Babe crushed a 1-1 pitch deep to right to put the Marilynd Team up 5-3. Jeff Montgomery earned the save getting Tony Phillips to fly out to center.
