Game Four - Jacob's Field

With the Monroes up 2 games to one over the NY Knights, they sent Pink Hawley to the mound to face Tom Glavine. Hawley faced McDowell in game one and was knocked out in the 2nd inning, giving up 7 runs. The Monroes and Hawley were looking for a much better effort and command of the series.

The Monroes started out right having DiMaggio stroke a two run shot right down the left field line, staking the Marilynd Team to a two run lead. In the top of the 4th a Schmidt double turned into a run on a Stan Hack sacrifice to center. The Knights answered in the bottom of the 4th with an Lajoie double, an error to Joe Jackson, RBI single by Burkett, a Heilmann walk and an error to Roseboro by Schmidt. The Knights knotted the score and knocked Hawley out of the game.

DiMaggio homered deep to center in the 6th to put the Monroes back on top. That was Joltin' Joe's second of the night.

Gray and Hasegawa held the Knights in check for four innings, giving way to Montgomery to close. Montgomery put Heilmann on first with 5 pitches, tossed a wild pitch on his first pitch to pinch hitter Hafey. Chick Hafey then deposited the next Montgomery over the fence to give the Knights a 5-4 win to tie the series at two games apiece.
