The Potato City Mashers made some big infield moves on Amnesty day.
Gone is the famous Cub trio of Joe Tinker, Johnny Evers and Frank Chance.
With apologies to Franklin Pierce Adams, Rabbit Ray had the following comment:
These are the saddest of possible words:
“Tinker to Evers to Chance”
Trio of sucky bear cubs, and hit like birds,
Tinker and Evers and Chance.
Ruthlessly pricking the Masher gonfalon bubble
Making errors and not turning the double—
Words that are heavy but cause no trouble

Rabbit is working on his next poem. Early speculation is that it will be called Hughie “EeYah” Jennings to Miller “Mighty Mite” Huggins to Rafael “I was once a Cub but then I went to Texas and met Jose Canseco who taught me everything I know but won’t disclose” Palmeiro. We expect to wait a while for that tome to be worked out.
